Shrimp Pad Thai Recipe, from the most famous Pad Thai place in Bangkok

Shrimp Pad Thai Recipe from scratch. This recipe is from the most famous Pad Thai restaurant in Bangkok, except the sauce recipe (it’s their trade secret!). You can buy their sauce, it is Thipsamai Pad Thai sauce. Or you can just follow my authentic and Easy Pad Thai sauce recipe below.

Shrimp Pad Thai Sauce Ingredients (2 serving):

  • 0.5 cup palm sugar
  • 0.5 cup tamarind sauce
  • 0.5 cup fish sauce
  • 0.5 cup chopped red onion
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. chilli powder (optional)

Shrimp Pad Thai Sauce Recipe:

  • Deep fried red onion and put it in a bowl.
  • Put palm sugar, tamarind sauce and fish sauce in a pot, and bring the mix to boil.
  • Add the fried red onion and chilli powder into the mix.

Shrimp Pad Thai Ingredients (1 serving):

  • Dried Thai Rice Noodle (Chantaboon Rice Sticks)
  • 1/4 cup fried tofu / hard tofu
  • 1/2 cup bean sprout
  • 1/8 cup chive
  • 1/2 tbsp. dried shrimp
  • 1 tbsp. chopped sweet pickled radish (Not sour pickle!!!)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tbsp. red onion
  • 3 cooked shrimp
  • Pad Thai sauce

Shrimp Pad Thai Recipe

  • Put the rice noodle in a bowl of water at room temperature for 12 min. or boil the noodle for 1.30 mins, while preparing Pad Thai sauce (Please follow the instruction at your noodle’s pack. Because the noodle from different factories may require different cooking time.)
  • Warm up oil in a wok.
  • Stir fry red onion in a wok.
  • Push the red onion to one side of a wok, and add 1 egg into another side of the wok. Then stir until the egg is cooked.
  • Add noodle and stir it.
  • Add Pad Thai sauce.
  • Then add tofu, dried shrimp, cooked shrimp and pickled radish. Mix all ingredients well.
  • Add bean sprout and chive, and stir fry quickly.
    *You can add a little bit of oil if you think your noodle looks dry.

How to make Vegetarian Pad Thai

You can make vegetarian Pad Thai by following this recipe, but please do not add dried shrimp nor cooked shrimp. And you can substitute fish sauce with salt.
